I've searched the different loads people are using in their Slufoot conversions but wanted to see what people are doing these days. I have Barnes 195 with light blue sabots and federal primers. The powder I have available at home are the following: H4198, N110, N120, and 5744. From what I have found, it seems the H4198 and N110 are the powders to consider with this conversion and bullet sabot combo. Can anyone chime in and let me know their thoughts and what a good starting point grains for each powder? Thanks!

H4198- 54-62 gr. N110- 32-42 gr, I think, wait for better input here.
Depending on your bore size you may need to knurl the barnes a bit to get a good sabot grip.

I shoot a couple Slufoot Apex conversions, one with sabots and one without. The sabot load I use is B195, Harvester light blue, and Win primers - 35 grains of N110 gives ~2350 fps and excellent accuracy, 43 grains of 4759 gives ~2400 with equal accuracy. These are moderate, guaranteed to fire, loads that I am happy with for woods tree stand hunting.

200 SST with HSB sabot and 7/53 duplex of 5744/H4198 lit by Win 209 primer. This is what slufoot recommended to me after I had failure to fires with straight H4198 in single digit temps. Left gun sit out overnight loaded in -6 degree temp that night and it went off the next morning without a hitch.
