Does the bh209 build too much pressure in the 45 cal. I just acquired a 700 ml in 45 cal. with 26" barrel. It is supposed to be capable of magnum loads. Will this shoot 100 gr. of bh209?

I think you will have misfires. I couldn't even get T7 pellets to ignite because of the poorly designed breechplug on the 700ML. BH209 is supposedly much harder to ignite.

I have the aftermarket kit that cabelas sold that has the enclosed 209 primer. I am hoping that it helps with the ignition problem.

deadeyeThe only other modification on mine is I fashioned a home made copper weather-shield for added protection. You can see how it just slides on to the nose of the bolt. Since the Remington is an open breech plug it is possible that the 209 primer assembly could be blown back out of the nipple. To protect yourself and the rest of the gun from flying parts i installed the copper weather shield. Here is a pic of the bolt, nipple and breech plug removed after shooting

Is that normal for the primers to seperate in the 700 ml? I had two do that at the last session and I was worried that there was too much pressure with the blackhorn powder.

To tell you the truth i do not like the primer backing out of the primer cup but because of the design - it does happen. Another thing the Winchesters seem to do it easier than the Federals.
The real key for me is if the hammer is re-cocked by the blow back. That can happen for two reasons... The hammer spring is getting weak or there is excessive blow-back pressure. None of the primers you see there re-cocked the hammer, but i do have the after-market Wolff hammer spring installed in the gun. And again that is why I install the copper weather shield.
