My new Remington X-mark trigger is pretty heavy and I'd like to adjust it down. From what I've seen it can be adjusted pretty easily however it says it only goes down to 3lbs and I'd like 2lbs. Has anyone adjusted these triggers and have any great deal of knowledge on these triggers? If I have to get a decent aftermarket trigger I might do that also but if I don't have to spend the extra money then I'd rather do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

IMO a crisper 3lbs will do you better than a mushy 2lb. If you do a search on tuning a remington trigger you will find the procedure of how to set each element of the triggers function. On the newer rems I have had to use a little heat to loosen the adjustment screws. They are getting real bad about covering their tracks to avoid lawsuits.

Thanks Myers guess I'll need to look at a decent aftermarket then. Penalty need to see where it's set at fist then adjust down to 3lbs and see if I like it or not.

Someone told me that if you send one back for repair now, if they see that the trigger has been adjusted they void the warranty.
As with most factory triggers, you go too light and you do not get a good sear reset. You want to go 2lbs or less on a Remy, go with a aftermarket.

I followed every direction posted on youtube and every other site. I could not get the Xmark to my satisfaction. I found when its adjusted light, it becomes very inconsistent.
I purchased a Timney 512 and have been happy since.

[/p] I purchased a Timney 512 and have been happy since. [/quote] +1Put one on both a 788 and 700ml and couldn't be happier. There may be better, more expensive triggers out there, but the Timney's improved groups on both rifles, especially the 788. I did need to dremel out the area of the stock just ahead of the adjustment screw and locknut on the 700, but that was no big deal. Trigger for the 788 came with a pull of 2#, and I adjusted the 700's down to 2 1/2#. Both break like glass. Made me a happy camper with the improved performance.

If you want to make a decent two pound hunting trigger out of your X Mark, you can do it on the cheap here: erniethegunsmith.com/I have done a couple for others and they are pretty good for a hunting setup. No, they aren't Jewell's, but they aren't 200 bucks either. I personally do run Jewell triggers on all my rifles.

Thanks this is what I was thinking about doing and figured a lighter spring would fix it. Just couldn't find where, is this what I should order? erniethegunsmith.com/catalog/i181.html

Thanks again for the heads up I just ordered the spring. If I can get this trigger down to 2lbs that would be awesome!
