That's a poke for sure and would be a blast to try even at a mile.

Not that it had to do with the shot but the only bad custom rifle I have owned was built by HCRC (an improperly headspaced .280 Improved ) and shortly thereafter they worked on one of my customer's rifles (against my advice ) and broke the bottom metal on a $20k Bolliger rifle. Luckily I had insured the gun and it went back to Bolliger for repair as it was beyond HCRC ability.
That said they have a good reputation and most people seem happy with them. Maybe I just caught them when they were new or something. I still wouldn't use them again.

I shot the 4' gong up at Tom Sarver's Thunder Valley Range in Ohio a few years back when it was 1680 yards. I was under gunned with my 6.5 x 284 improved and a 147 gr. Clich River bullet. I needed abut 35 MOA in the mount plus run the 6 x 24 Valdada scope at 16X and use the bottom mil dot to "getter done!" And that was hit and miss.......depending on the wind! Its obvious that Hill Country had this thing all dialed in for their customer and he just had to pull the trigger and follow instructions on hold compensation. Not really a great shooting feat in itself. His third shot was almost a miss. At those distances just a slight breeze and your off by 10'. Still interesting to watch. On one of the trips to Ohio a friend had a .408 Chey-Tech and two other guys shooting .338 BooBoo's (yeah, just a big mag on a large belted case) actually out shot the Chey tech. A 21" and 20" five shot group while the Chey tech only had four on, On a second trip up there a 300 win mag posted a 10" five shot group. These were shot on IBS 1K targets. Richard

Yes, that would be fun to shoot a 3600 yard target.. The rifle was indeed set up and tuned for that shot and it took three shots to hit the target.. Not bad at all for that distance and had he kept shooting he might have been able to keep pinging the plate..
I believe that shot could be made with a 45 SPML if it was also set up and tuned for that shot. Just about any hi-power rifle can do it,, you just have to know the drop and start lobbing them bullets in there.. Aim high enough and the bullet will get there. On a calm (no wind) day it should actually be pretty easy to hit that 36 in circle consistently once you hit it the first time...
It would be next to impossible to find a place to shoot that far for 99% of us, that's why most of us will never attempt a shot that far...

I dont know why they keep praising the shooter. That could have been done by anyone. The real credit goes to the spotters who figured the ballistics and drift, told him how to dial the scope and handed it to him on a plate. im betting they were the instructors at a long range school.
