I November I decided to take the plunge and build a desired smokless that I had seen in action (thanks deadeye). After coming up with a Remington 700ML action I decided to go with a 45 cal. 28" Brux (thanks Luke). After several conversations with Deadeye he informed me of some parts and pieces needed for the build. Break from Natnan Wright//Breach from airborneike//.030 brushing from luke//stock came from a bud of mine . Could not make the trip but my bud took all to Rossman (thanks Ken) to marry it all up. I have to admit I was getting a little nervous because I had a vacation scheduled to go to Hamilton County Illinois to deer hunt during day and coon hunt at night with my father. On a Friday night (1 week before leaving) Deadeye came walking in my garage with my new build and what a pleasant surprise. The next morning (after sobering a bit) I invited Deadeye to help me get started. He shows up with primers and bullets and sizing die so we get started. Here we go with Hornady 300 gr xtp to get on paper 2 shots at 50yds then out to 100yds with more cheaper Hornadys. 2 more shots got me moa at 100 then to 300gr parkers. I have shot sabot smokless for a while, but sabotless is a little different (yeap that was the one deadeye took my dollars). Then out to 200yds after a couple scope adjustments we had bungholes (there it is again 7mmfreak). Very happy with 68gr 4198 smooth form 300gr parkers. By now I had 11 shots threw new build and off to Illinois I go. My daughter wanted my stand so the fence rows and ditches I go. Just had set down and at 269 yds there they are. I picked out largest doe facing me (POA nose) and squeeze--not another step. After recovering deer I found I had hit right under nose, it went through neck and out it back (large exit hole). That was one and I got two tags left. Next afternoon there they came out at 135yds sent one in boiler room--not another step. Got 5 more days and already 2 hanging. The day before coming home went to fill last tag. Set in a fence row and there was 5 more with one of them being a albino (had two brown spots on hind quarters) at 155yds. The largest doe being turned away from me, the cross hairs where right behind her ear and squeeze--not another step. I am very pleased with the performance. Thanks to all that help with my new build. I'm hooked.
