I have been reading and learning from this website for several years after finding it while researching info for my Savage smokeless. I live in northwest Ne. 30 miles from the Wy. and Sd. borders on a ranch overrun with whitetails. I got into muzzle loading for the extended season to assist with my continual doe culling efforts. I started with the usual black powder weapons, a couple of CVA's. I have since acquired a Savage and have been shooting it for 3 years and have a second one I bought at a reasonable price, that is new still in the box. I also have a large supply of SR4759 stockpiled, thanks to heads up info I picked up here. I do a lot of shooting and hunting as I have several thousand acres to play on and my own 100 and 500 yard ranges. Besides whitetail I also get to hunt mule deer, elk and antelope. I shoot center fires for hunting and in club shoots but have really taken to smokeless muzzle loading and our December muzzle loader season is now one of my favorites. So far I have learned a lot and look forward to continuing the learning curve. I thought it was time I joined so I could further the learning curve via inter-action with you-all. Thanks, rickster

Welcome to the board... Good to see a another fellow western Nebraskan on the board....I live a little south of you and been shooting smokeless for awhile. There's a few of us around here (Scottsbluff) that are shooting .45 cal Savage and Remington conversions...They're the best thing going in this wide open country we live in... Zen

I have been following the posts concerning conversions with great interest. I have been into long range centerfires for some time and wish to carry that over to muzzleloading and that is what got me to smokeless in the first place along with not wanting to clean a barrel after every shot. I get more than enough of that breaking barrels in!
That said, I have a long way to go and I am taking it in baby steps, gaining knowledge and experience along the way. Most of my shots have been either side of 100 yards but I did stretch out to 275 last month. My load was 43grs. of 4579 topped by a Barnes Original with the orange mmp. I am fascinated with the whole idea of going sabotless but it is intimidating to a newbie, as is duplex loads.
I am pretty fortunate to have the great hunting etc. that I have right out the back door. But we have worked hard at food plots and habitat projects over the years. We also had pretty good pheasant hunting until our bad storm two years ago that really decimated our brood stock. Our turkeys now out number our pheasants.

You came to the right place for smokeless MZ advice and services. I've been all over other forums on the subject and this if far and away the best...good folks too. I'm fairly new to this activity and still learning. As many say "it's addictive"

Welcome aboard, you will be sabotless before long. I live in Michigan but make it out around McCook for bowhunting each year and love it in Neb. You are indeed fortunate.

Welcome Rickster! I grew up in another corner of the state, 5 mi. from Kansas and 40+ mi. from Colorado. It was nice to have a choice of hunting mulies or whitetails, and I loved my .25-06 for hunting either, along with "practicing" in the prairie dog towns in the summer. Ever since coming to Iowa I've longed for the performance of that CF, and this site will get a person as close as it will ever get. One of your Savages would make for a great conversion. A .458 barrel will give you a choice of either saboted .40's or sabotless .45's. Again, welcome to the board. Welcome aboard, you will be sabotless before long. I live in Michigan but make it out around McCook for bowhunting each year and love it in Neb. You are indeed fortunate. That's only 30-some miles east of where I was raised. You're bow hunting along the Republican River?
