Wondering if letting the barrel cool completely is needed when shooting sabot-less with full formed bullets. I know with sabots I have blown sabots when the barrel got warm and had accuracy issue.

I usually don't but I'm thinking for best accuracy a 5 minute wait won't hurt anything.

The only thing I have found is that as the barrel warms...........Notice I did not say get hot!...........but as it warms slightly, I have noticed my velocity dropping some.............Not out of the kill zone at 100 but maybe at 300. (POI dropping) If starting with a cold barrel I will generally shoot five shots .........one right after the other. Then as the barrel warms up some, I will go 3 shots and then use the cool rod to keep the temperature down. Richard

I have shot till the barrel was actually hot and did not see enough of a difference to matter to me... I'm talking 30 shots or so testing bullets loading them just about as fast as I could.. The barrel got pretty warm and I kept shooting good groups with generic bullets...

I tend to listen to folks like Richard and Jeff. But I have shot thousands of rourds sabotless Barnes 290 TMZ 58grs of H4198, I loaded and shot, no waiting, yes the barrel got hot, its all ready hot shooting in So. Florida, but no problems with accuracy. I found it to a super accurate load, my dime killer load.
Marty It also kills Moose.
