Went out early this morning to get my Sav-Pac dialed in for our upcoming Antelope hunt. I recently put a .040 bushing plug with the flame channel drilled out to 7/32" in my gun, changed to a single powder H4198 load, and am shooting 275 MH's for the first time.... Not sure why I changed it all up because my old plug with duplex loads and Tez's worked perfectly and never let me down....I didn't have a lot of MH'S left to shoot so my report is limited...Loaded up some vials from 71- 75gns of H4198 and ended up going with 73gns. It got me where I wanted to be in speed. (2720fps) and proved to be as accurate as the others. Shot 78gns a couple days ago so I had to re-sight to zero at 200yds.... After zeroing to 200 I had 4 MH's left to shoot... put my data in Strelock dialed up to 300, then to 400yds... Took the shots and I figure that I'm ready to wreak havoc on those Pronghorns come Saturday.. 300 and 400 targets s265.photobucket.com/user/zenvoor/media/Mobile%20Uploads/photo2_zpsd01bdf9b.jpg.html?sort=3&o=s265.photobucket.com/user/zenvoor/media/Mobile%20Uploads/phwasoto1_zps42746ed0.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2

Looks great. Can't wait to see some trophy pix and compare notes. Best of luck to you and RR! Be safe.
Oh yea, great shooting also.
Did you chrony that 78gr load by chance? Since I don't have an adjustable FF die yet the 275MH will be my bullet of choice until I get my life back on plane. Happy to see it working well for you.

Since I don't have an adjustable FF die yet the 275MH will be my bullet of choice until I get my life back on plane. Happy to see it working well for you. I got 2820fps with 78gn in my 24" barrel... It was too much for me... Personally I didn't see a whole lot of difference in accuracy between 70 and 78gns... I've only shot 60 MH's so my experience with these bullets is very limited..To be honest I'm having a hard time warming up to them... Sending $2.00+ down range everytime I pull the trigger sort of takes the fun out of it...Another thing is that I don't find them that accurate at closer ranges... I'am looking forward to taking ole RiverRat to school when he comes out to hunt Saturday.. . I've got a few good bucks located and if things go right it should be a short but sweet hunt.. I hear you're going to Wyoming hunting... You shouldn't have any problems getting a good goat there...Good luck Zen

I'd like to say that I'll be taking ole Zen to school but he's old enough to be the retired principal so I'll have to push his wheel chair around to those goats. That way he won't be out of breath when the moment of truth comes! Lol jk
Zen has me so pumped up I can't even focus any more!

Wait....wait.... Wait for the right one. Don't be shootin no short horns....LOL Zen by the way , that was mighty fine shootin at long range. Most folks centerfire won't shoot that good. My old hard headed brother thought I was pullin his leg when I told him what I could do with my rempac Wayles

Wait....wait.... Wait for the right one. Don't be shootin no short horns....LOL Got my eye on several decent shooters... one of them is in the 80's... Going to go after him Saturday... They're in pre-rut so you never know what side of the fence they'll be on... It's been a good year out here..plenty of tall green grass..the sandhills have been green all summer...I'll try to be as picky as you are but no guarantees Zen

What, no 500yds? I think you need to increase the distance, that really isn't very fair to the critters. Nice shootin Zen!

Zen...........I am impressed with the velocity you are getting with the 4198! I couldn't barely get 75 gr. to push a 250 or 300 gr. bullet past 2400? And that was with fire coming out the bore. I am guessing that it relates to the Parker bullets being able to swell up easier than the Hornady's? I am surprised you scrubbed the duplex? Then again, you probably have so many of them goats around that even if you get a misfire, you will get a second and third chance for one. Good luck to you and RR! Get a couple better than 14" with big cutters! Richard

Zen As far as the rut, unless things have changed they will be runnin the does hard Saturday. At least that has been my experience. Makes me grouchy just thinkin about how I don't even have a chance at the draw anymore for antelope. Guess I will have to start putting in for whyo. good luck wayles

Richard.... So far I haven't experienced any misfires with the new plug.Haven't noticed any flames out the barrel either...Speed has been around 2680-2700fps with 70 gns H4198... 73gns is getting 2720-2730fps... 78gns is over 2800...Hoping for consistent ignition when it gets sub-zero.... I even shot 3 rounds of 250 TEZ's with 75gns of 4198 to test for ignition.. They went off without a hitch...I guess I'm like most others, always trying something different... When I'm done with the few MH's I have I'm going back to TEZ's,FTX's and BE's and probably with a duplex combo....And then you never know...
The pressure is on to find a goat dumb enough to stand around long enough for RiverRat to kill him...That's going to be the hardest thing for this ole man to do..
We're going to be looking for that 500yd kill that's for sure.

The two that are touching is the 300 yard and 400 yard target. Seems like the 400 yard bullet is top bullet and bottom is 300 he's running low on bullets and couldn't shoot groups at those ranges.
I'm going to video him missing at 50 yards and post his miss for pictures! Lol
