I have one and I like it, but I have only had it a couple weeks and it's on an Omega, not a Savage. I have fired about 50 rounds using it, from slow 300 grainers to faster 200 grn SW's. A couple good points and bad points.... I don't really like the circle around the crosshair center. Makes things kind of "busy," but that's jmo. I definitely prefer the Leupold's dots to the Nikon circles, but I wish they were crosshairs and not dots. I think it will work with the Savage ballistics and bullets going 2000 to 2400 fps, but I am no expert. I like the scope and it will be on whatever rifle I hunt with this year. But if you just want holdover crosshairs for 200 to 300 yards for a known load you might consider talking to Leupold about putting a custom reticle in your scope. I don't think it is that expensive and you get crosshairs exactly where you want 'em. JMO BTW I am cgg--I think I forgot to log in

Personally, I think you can make any of these special reticles work with time at the range, so I think that is okay. The scope is of the lower quality Leupold's. It would basically be a VX-I scope with the special reticle. So it is a more budget minded scope that may not hold up to the Savage abuse but it may be fine. Some on here had said they had higher dollar Leupold's fail on their ML-II's and I am sure many love them. One nice thing about Leupold's is their eye relief, usually very generous. Try to find one and look at it and see if you like it. I use a cheaper Burris Fullfield II scope on my ML-II and love it. I have a old Tasco on my 12 Ga. slug gun and it holds up, so you never know.

If you buy any of the Leupold's with the B&C (Boone & Crockett) reticle, there is an adjustment to accommodate two different ranges of MV. I have one on my 300 Win Mag, and another on my 7MM-08. Both work perfectly at all ranges.

I used a B&C reticle and a .50 10ml2 to take a deer at 326 yards year before last.
It worked, but I am now going with M1 dials on my Leupolds. The only reason being that around 300 was max with the bottom post.

Just FYI & FWIW-- I am not sure about the official lens coating etc., but this scope compares very well in clarity and quality to my VariXII scopes.
I do know the Ultimate Slam has positive click adjustments like the II's, not the "friction" adjustment of the VariXI's. And you can turn them with your fingers, you don't have to hunt a coin or screwdriver, which is a nice touch.

Is anybody LISTENING? SW writes, "Next year, the bottom post will be closer to 400-500 yards."
Think about it; the implication is................?
