We still have some hunting left here in Delaware, But I am done for this year . Do to a carpel tunnel operation next week. So below is a thread I started early in November. dougsmessageboards.proboards.com/thread/14111/new-bullet-mlAnd following up to let everyone know that I am staying with Hornadys .45, 250 Monoflex. For me this is a great bullet. All deer have dropped to this bullet for we this year, all pass throughs but one. That one was a doe standing 100yads. Quarter to me. I took the shot and she doped like a rock the reason for this is the Monopole entered the small hole at the top of the right shoulder and took out most of the ribs around it. Then traveled all the way through her body and landed under the skin on her left hind quarter.

I'll assume that deer was a little beyond CPR when you got to it

I wonder if those could be sized down to.4490 with a swinglock smooth die?... probably take two or three stages to bring it down from.458 Zen

Oldsnow, goog luck with the operation. My wife thought she would have to go that route, but tried acupuncture first. It worked! Just a thought. I wonder if those could be sized down to.4490 with a swinglock smooth die?... probably take two or three stages to bring it down from.458 Zen I tried them in a FF die. They are HARD. All I could get was land dents with a reloading press even with the "0" setting, and had to whack the bullet back out. I'm afraid to try it with the 2 ton arbor press I have now for fear they will damage the FF die. No problems with the Barnes copper bullets, though. Has anyone successfully pushed the .458 Mono's through either the smooth or FF die??

Probably could size the .452 monoflex... The published BC is .210 which is the same as the published BC of the Barnes TEZ. IF they could be bought in bulk I might give them a try.... It would be hard to beat the Barnes so I'm not too concerned. Zen

Just a question. If a .458 bullet is sized to .452, with that type of reduction does that "contort" the projectile in enough fashion that accuracy is compromised? My land riders either are too small and need to be knurled up or I resize them from .452/.451 to .4495 and then knurl them. I have just started shooting full formed bullets but they are lead core and "softer" than the all copper bullets that gave me trouble and keyholed and were nearly impossible for me to use but I did not anneal them. That is just another step I want to avoid if possible when I at least found two bullets that shot satisfactorily full formed without needing annealing. One was a Nosler Partition and also a Speer.
