Used an Encore/pacnor 25 inch barrel Form BullBerry with their hanger system, Pete's plug. 57grn ofh4198..60 vegie wad and 250 gr sst . Last year I shot a doe at a lasered 208 yds.... She was a DRT......this years deer ran 75 yds with a hole the size if a tennis ball on the entrance wound. Pulverized his lungs and liver...like jello. Scared the day lights out of me...I questioned my shot when he took off. Only had 2 that weren't either DRT or bangflops . Drop

Drop I thought that to be legal, Illinois required that the muzzle loader projectile had to be 44 caliber not the projectile and sabot combined!

Not sure about the fine print or even where it is. The hunting regs I have say a minimum of 45cal. If im wrong then I am wrong. Can't recall the bullet now.

You are correct it does say a minimum of 45 caliber but on Page 17 of the Hunting guide under legal ammunition the first statement is "For Shotguns and muzzleloading firearms, the minimum size of the projectile shall be .44 caliber. A wad or sleeve is not considered a projectile or a part of the projectile." I think this is overkill on their part but that is why I did not use my encore/pac-nor there this season!

Yes it is! Sadly enough it has been pointed out to me and I knew it any. That you can hunt deer in Illinois with a. 357 Magnum handgun. Don't make a lot of sense. ..does it? Drop

Drop You will like sabotless better anyways. It is a dumb law for sure. We have a .44 caliber minimum bore requirement, but no bullet diameter requirement here in NYS. I really want a .40 to hunt with.

What a beautiful IL buck, congrats 12ptdroptine! What county are you in? I have been hunting in Cumberland for a few years now and this year was absolutely terrible. Easily 75% less deer, a few fawns and yearlings around but not many mature deer. All the local guys are saying EHD last year and this too.

Very similar here not nearly the amount of deer we usually see.... Got some nice pics of shooters but this guy was a visitor...lol. I am in west central Illinois. . We practice pretty low pressure. Pressure me and they head in deep and go nocturnal. I shot the doe Friday night. And got her out of there and dressed her a halls mile away. Then seen this guy come out to feed midday Sat. I am still learning about this... Food plot....and management issues. Gonna do some more research and feed me better next year. Got to keep me happy and on our land. Drop
