What the wind blows in

We had the big storms blow through central Indiana Sunday. I was busy processing my buck from opening day the day before when the weather radio sounded a tornado warning, and we got busy figuring out if the tornado was headed for us or going to miss.. About the time I decided it was going to go west/north of us (it destroyed a Starbuck 10 miles north of us) my wife yells "Oh my God, there's a deer running through the front yard!". I run to the window and see a confused deer racing around my yard then orchard between us and the neighbor in our small neighborhood. I grab my 44mag Ruger Deerhunter and tear outside racking in shells. I quickly jog our 15 acre property in the 30+ mph winds as the tornado passes just out of sight to the north, but no sign of the deer.
When I return, I am informed that in the future I am forbidden from chasing around after deer when there is a tornado warning. Sigh. It's genetic, what can I say.
I don't know where that deer went and holed up in the neighborhood but an hour later as I'm grinding meat I see it run past the house and into our backyard. I grab the 44 again and head for the back porch. Now my property used to be an elk farm, and I still have 8ft fences around the perimeter and behind the front yard. For whatever reason this deer passed up going through two large gaps in the fence and ended up in a corner of the yard 80 yards from the porch just standing there. An easy shot with the ghost ring sights on the Deerhunter. The bullet busted both lungs, and I would later recover the jacket flattened against the off side leg bone. Conveniently the deer managed to bolt 50 yards up towards my shop, dropping only 50 feet from the door I needed to drag it through for processing!
Sure beat sitting out in the wind, driving rain, and possible tornadoes...
