I finally got to draw blood with my Rem/Brux 45 in Wyoming. I had a herd of about 12 at between 500 and 510yds, the drop chart said 9.6 MOA so I dialed in 9.75 and waited for one of the big does to get broad side and clear of the herd, finally one did so I squeezed the trigger and sent the 275 MH on it's way. The herd took off but after about 20 yds the big doe toppled over.

Wow that's impressive! Not only the distance but also the performance of that bullet at that range.

That is some awesome shooting. The capability of these smokeless weapons in the hands of an experienced shooter is mind boggling. Congrats on a great kill! SP

nice shot & what a great rig for out west. sounds like you are approx. 200yds zero'd. have you found the wind deflection on that bullet to be the listed bc or maybe slightly better? I know theres usually wind out west at least when i'm there!

The load is 275gr Match Hunter, 76gr of H4198, 060 Vegie and a CCI 209 Magnum primer, a Brux 30" .450/.458 barrel = 2906fps ave. The rifle is zeroed at 100yds, the wind was about 3mph from 1:00 o-clock, I gave it no value and held dead on.

JBM, and then verified on range, and had to adjust the BC to .350 G1 to match actual drops. This was originally done here in VA at 350' elev, then printed chart for 5,000' elev for Wyoming, and verified at 450 yds in Wyoming before hunting.

that's exactly how I have developed my data! I noticed the curve & have had another board member here comparing atrags truing up against real field results. they are very close but still cannot beat actual field notes.

Great shooting! What is the barrel twist rate? Ever tried any IMR3031 to boost the velocity and lower pressures?

Great shooting! What is the barrel twist rate? Ever tried any IMR3031 to boost the velocity and lower pressures? The twist is 1-22, actually I tried several bullets and powders with depressing results, before I broke down and bought a box of 275 MH's. I tried three loads before I shot the three shot group below at 100 yds, I am done experimenting for a hunting and accuracy load for this rifle. Still looking for an accurate and cheap load for playing around, but then the search is fun part, gives me an excuse to burn more powder!Dave

I'm glad I just got 100 blemished 275 MHs. Did you try the 300 and 325s which seem more suited for longer ranges, as does your rifle and YOU!

Nice shooting , that is very flat shooting. My 26" McGowen with 70 grains of H-4198 and a 300 MH corrected for 5000' elevation would need 14.7 MOA for 510 yd. shot.
I have shot steel out to 700yds. and just missed the 12"square at 1000 in the wind, hoping to long shot at a doe next week. Can you tell me more about your gun action ,barrel contour, stock and scope.
Been thinking on what to build after first of the year pretty sure it will be a 30" barrel though. Not sure if I want another .45 or do a .416.
