My 13 y.o. son Luke killed this buck in Montgomery County, TN this morning on opening day of muzzleloader. Not until we flipped him over to load him did we realize it was the same buck Luke had shot on opening morning of bow season 6 weeks ago, we found very little blood and no arrow then......now we know why. So Luke's first buck with a bow and his first buck with a muzzleloader are the same deer! The gun, named Black Betty, is a HillBill special, Remi/McGowen, shooting 62 grains of H-4198, Barnes 195, HLB sabot.

WOW Congrats to the lucky hunter. Glad you got to recover that deer to see what happened. Is it lodged in the scapula? Can't believe it didn't snag on something or break off after all that time in him. You guys are VERY lucky. Great job Luke!!!

You have a very wholesome looking son. Great story to tell also. Most bow hunters have their own "scapula" stories. His will be better than most.

It was intended that was to be his buck. Interesting story. Nice rifle.

Regardless, congrats to your son!

Was that arrow in the so called "no man's land?" Regardless, congrats to your son! No, this arrow was in the scapula.......there is a learning curve in hunting just like everything else. He just didn't make a good shot on him, little too far forward and a little too high. I suspect he'll put the next one in the kill zone.
