This was his own 45. This was the first day of Arkansas' gun season(2 week ends only for us in NE AR). My 25 year old son had set up a tripod stand in an extremely grown up field full of saplings, tall weeds, some mature trees, thorns, briars, etc. He got on his stand appx 1/2 hr before first light, the wind was 20-30 mph(always like this on first day of gun season in AR for the past many years), and stayed on that 10' tripod stand with a cheap , plastic, boat seat all day until he took a shot about 20 minutes before total darkness set in. The deer , a nice 10 pt , hit with a 200 SST ran straight towards his stand and fell at the base of the tripod. No tracking for that deer! He texted me a picture of the 10-pt within 30 secs of the shot. I sent him a text back immediately , "RELOAD, don't take pictures now!!". Within 30 secs, I heard a second shot. The deer above pictured came out of the brush, following a doe, at about 55 yds. He still was shoving the bullet down when the deer first appeared, h lowered the barrel and let the ramrod fall out on the ground, and shot. The deer was the 2nd largest deer killed with a MLer in AR that year(scored 169 7/8" ) , the largest was also killed in Clay County, AR -211"!!! Killed about 15 mi away. Hopefully, this picture will come through. I'm just learning to post pictures. SW

That's a dandy for sure. How did the 200 sst perform, other than the obviously dead deer

Same deer in both pictures. The photobucket link is the 1st deer. Pass-thru, good blood trail right to the stand. That picture was taken while he was still seated on the stand. 200 SST performance was only marginal. Close, hot load, big deer, no pass-thru, little blood trail, went appx 100 yds. I still use 200 SSTs as I normally get acceptable performance and have never had a loss. IMO, the 195 Barnes has better terminal performance, but lesser inflight performance. I think the 195 Barnes is a better overall bullet. I wish there was a 200 TMZ!!

Fine deer. How long is the barrel? 25 1/2" but it has RB's long breechplug.

Beautiful Buck, has character & mass! Shoot a trophy like that & I'd have to retire.....maybe? No, it just lights the fire more! Trust me or just ask either of our wives. FORTUNATELY, his wife's hobby is deer hunting. I didn't raise a stupid kid! He also is a crop duster pilot so he has deer season free to hunt.

Does he let you shoot that .45 RB or fly that duster?
