They are both used. I've been going to buy a 788 forever but the price and availability has hindered that effort. I finally bit the bullet and paid to much for it (700) to my door. The other is a old 340 savage that I bought and then saw the 788. I think it's going to take a little work to make it pretty but the bore is suppose to be good. I've only got 180 into it. I wouldn't of asked about spz bullets but dang it all there isn't any 30-30 170's out there right now. Both were bought/won on gunbroker. Savage 340 and stevens 325. boyd makes stocks semi inletted but the triggers are what they are from my understanding. There is a 788 stock looks like it needs some finish work on it but the blueing looks good it has a a 400 start bid, just beware mine stayed at 400 until 4 hours before the end of bidding

My Bro shoots the 165 FTX Leverevolution in his 336. I don't see why you can't get the same bullets in bulk and load them, they should work in a bolter as well as a lever. Ya thinkin about making it a Ack Imp? That should jump the performance some too. The barrels on those 340 go on/off just like a Savage. Just a different size barrel nut. 10
the 30-30 ftx is a 160. They work but the rem doesn't like em. I've got a set of AI dies but heck to 150 yards (way past my longest shot) the 170's will work. You just can't find any 30-30 bullets right now.
