Went out yesterday morning thinking it was going to a bad day to go hunting because of the full moon. After about an hour in the stand the see movement to my left. I pull up the binoculars and see antlers but I can't see the rest of the deer. He messed around for about 15 minutes and then walked over about ten yards and laid down. The whole time all I could see was the tips of his antlers. He laid there for over an hour before he got back up. When he did get up he started to walk straight away from me. He was only 60 yards but it is very thick between us. I tried finding a hole to be able to shoot through but it was just too thick. He finally walked out of sight. There is a creek that is about 100yds in that direction so I kept watching up and down it in the spots where I could see to try to catch a glimpse of him but never did. After about a hour of not seeing anything I decided that I would leave at 10:15am it was then 10:00am. Four minutes later I hear something to my left and turn and look and here he is walking back my direction. He walked over to about 50 yards and turned and was getting ready to disappear in some more thick stuff when he stopped and looked around. I thought it was now or never but noticed he stopped behind a small tree. I am normally a high shoulder shooter so the track job is easy but his shoulder was blocked by a limb. I had about a 3" opening for what would be a high heart low lung shot. Knowing how good the Slufoot H&R conversion shoots I did not hesitate to take the shot. He took off running and honestly my first thought was I missed (remember high shoulder shot they drop instantly) but he ran about 20 yards and fell over. And of coarse it had to be the thickest part of the woods where he fell over. Although only 50 yards from the stand it still took me 20 minutes to fight through the briars. Gun is H&R Slufoot conversion shooting the 200g SST and 57g of H4198
