If I understand the world correctly the following are true 1)Savage ml barrels and savage actions ie: 10, 11, 110 are the same threads with the exception of the newer barrels 2)there is someone on the board that makes a breech plug for a savage ml barrel using trimmed rifle cases for the primer holder 3) I think xs7 actions have the same threads as a savage
Ok my thinking is that I can take one of the 50 cal barrels that I took of building my 45 pacnor (which I since sold as I went back to 50 cal). Get a action whether it be a savage or xs7 and basically screw the barrel on with the new breech plug and have a 50 cal smokless for basically the cost of the action and breech plug. Who is it that sells the breech plug?? I think it would be a really neat build in that the barrel I took of was a decent shooter and that the lugs would be better than the savage single screw to hold the bolt. I have 3 ml stocks floating around that will do as long as I stay with a savage short action or a stevens

Luke sells a 209 bolt head for Savage and Stevens. And barrels and BPs and any thing else you might need. That way you do not need the cartridges to hold the primer. I have a Stevens 200 SA with a 45 MacGowen barrel I have been using the 275be Parkers sabotless. Real easy to set up too. It just takes a little time to open the stock up for the bigger barrel.
