I take back every bleeping negative thing I ever said about crossbows. Wow that's a nice one. And in Kentucky??? Did not know you guys had them ready for harvesting yet.

Thanks Guys! I am a VA resident and not KY. Drew the tag in the KY tag lottery after 4 years of application. The bull was apparently pretty old judging by his teeth and appeared to be past prime. His body was huge. Haven't scored the antlers yet. It was a great hunt. I love KY!

Great mass and a nice front end, he will make a dandy mount. I keep playing that lottery hoping that some day they will pick my number. Congrats on a nice Bull!

Awesome animal Bluedog! Should make a great mount, now you have worry if you have a big enough wall.
Maybe thanks to good selection and management the KY elk herd has some awesome animals. They bagged 550 last year, I do not know how many tags went out this year. I know it's become big business for the KY FWR. 50,000 apps at $5 apiece, then if your a non-resident, tag and license is anther $500. They used to only give 10% of the tags to non-residents but I think they realized how much money they were losing.

I think the cost for a chance is $10 rossman and now they have split the tags up so you have only a single choice for that $10 but IMO it is still a worthy gamble. If you have the jack you can now buy LO tags too. The KY herd is giving the great western herds a run in the big bulls dept...maybe one day KY will produce the new WR.

So tell us about your crossbow, bolts and broadheads. I have a buddy that has a itch for one.

I used my Parker 175lb Terminator (out of production model), Parker Red Hot bolts, and 100 grain standard Slick Trick broad heads. I had a Leupold 1-4 variable with a 'turkey' reticle. My shot was at a ranged 65 yards and I had a complete pass through. Bull went about 30 yards and laid down.
