Some treestands and hunting blinds have a wood rail to rest the rifle on while shooting. This will create inaccuracy because the forearm resting on a hard surface will cause a lot of dispersion. If such a rail is available rest the back of the hand on the rail and lay the forearm in the palm of the hand. This will provide considerable more accuracy. It is easy to prove this to yourself using a pellet rifle or while doing range work. Padding under the forearm isn't there to protect the stock finish. It proides more consistent recoil movement before the bullet leaves the muzzle. Ozark

good info Ozark. I put pipe insulating foam on the rail. this also keeps noise down from setting gun on the rail and any thing bumping the rail making noise.
