Finally getting ready to fit a 10ml2 barreled action to my buddy's boyd varmint thumbhole. Action drops right in, but the barrel isn't free floated. Close though. What's the best approach? Different sized dowels or pvc? What grit sand paper? Only done this in my mind, any real world experience and tips would be greatly appreciated

I put low stick blue tape down both sides and mark the area(s) the barrel touches. If it is a straight section, some 80grit wrapped around a deepwell socket works well. if it is a curved section, 80 grit wrapped around a big eraser works good. Be careful to keep the paper near 90 degrees to the edge so it stays fairly sharp. A little at a time with rechecking and remarking the tape so you don't go too much.

Felt like I was in a staples store, that was easy Ended up the only place it was just hitting was the last 1" towards the muzzle. Took about 3 minutes with 3/4" pvc and 120gr paper to float it, dollar bill now clears easily all the way to the lug area. Hanging with the first coat of finish on it, should be done with all coats tomorrow. Will post a pic when put back together, it's gonna look nice
