Dear Mr. President,
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force - Pay them $1 million apiece severance with the following stipulations:
1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!
PS: If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes

Sorry. Good idea. One glitch:
1,000,000 X 40,000,000 = 40 Trillion. Ouch!!

My biggest fear is this will not work as most economist who do not depend on political favoritism to keep employed are saying. They have said over and over based on the awful 10year long recession Japan went through (the Japanese now refer to it as "The Lost Decade") and our own great depression is YOU CAN NOT SPEND YOUR WAY OUT OF A RECESSION/DEPRESSION. You can only allow the laws of capitalism to run their course and only by the PRIVATE SECTOR creating good paying long term careers not just jobs did we work our way out of the great depression.
The most optimistic estimates I have read claim that nObamas programs will at best only create 3 million short term jobs. His beliefs that a new green power industry will some how create the millions more jobs this country needs is simply some much smoke up we tax payers asses.
I just saw on Lew Dobbs on CNN a blue dog Democrat voicing serious doubt and concern over nObamas plan that in the end will wreck the us and devalue the dollar by 90%, worthless for all intents.
Bottom line is the fact that government can not create wealth it can only take it by taxation, and give it to other peoples through socialist programs. If government spending was the key to a countries success the former Soviet union would be Nirvana on earth, and the greatest super power in the history of the world, and we all know what happened to them.
It utterly infuriates me beyond measure that what the hell are the traitors in DC thinking with all these doomed to failure socialist programs that they should know based on what has happened to every single socialist country in the world to day that socialism can not, does not and will not ever work. There is no such thing since the fall of the Soviet Union of a socialist super power, or even a socialist country with a strong robust economy. France, the UK, and so on are all third world status in comparison to the US. All with government taxes at or above 50%.
Well I hope all those who voted for this political novice/rock star are going to be willing to give up their place in the soup kitchen lines for those of us who did not.

Huntingmike. I do not accept the nomination for president. A person would have to be crazy to want to be president -- and I'm not crazy!

Art, you're the kind of guy I'd LOVE to sit around the fire for hours with, and just talk.
I feel like America is the proverbial frog in the pan of cold water on the stove. It's turned on and heating, and will soon boil, but we won't feel a thing when done that way, so we'll sit and boil and fry and die, and we'll do it quietly.
We should be talking about overthrow, impeachment, secession, coups, SOMETHING SERIOUS!!!
But we won't. We'll just search the internet for .22 bullets, mostly in vain, and practically give up trying to buy a subcompact .380 pistol (never mind the ammo!!) for our CCW license (which will probably be illegal soon)............tasks I did yesterday. Then we'll get on the internet hunting chat sites and bitch and moan and gripe, like I'm doing now. Many of us will write our Legiscritters, like I did, and get a form letter back that basically says that they are right, I am wrong, and to hush.
Then we can surf over to our 401K site and find out whether it's become a 201K or a 101K today. We can get on the phone and talk to a co-worker who, like us, made it through last week's layoffs, probably by the skin of our teeth. Finally we can get a cup of coffee and go sit on the front porch and contemplate how we've played the game fairly for 3-Score years and when the finish line is in site, the entire game and venue and rules changed.
I would say "I don't know how we got here" but I do. It's all backlash against the last guy we had. Folks would have voted for Genghis Khan if he was in the 'other party' this time. We can spin our wheels defending him (as I have done repeatedly) but it's just simple truth. Perception trumps reality, always. And W was such a poor rep of 'our side' that he inadvertently led the revolt against us all. What we got was not a middle-of-road opponent, but the single most liberal member of the U.S. Senate in HISTORY. He won't change his spots as President. And since we don't have the Parliamentary system, we're stuck with him. Worse, the idiots that have been behind the scenes, sort of, in Congress for all these years are now a member of the "Ruling Class" and are flaunting both their ignorance and arrogance at every turn. Even worse, there appears to be no valid representative of "our side" that will be a good Champion of what is right. Most of them are just as bad, in other ways.
This leads me to believe that BOTH sides suck big donkey knobs and I'm quite frankly fed up with the whole lot of 'em, and the entire system. Not one person within 100 miles of Washington, DC, goes through the day doing things even remotely like I'd want them done. Not once. And I'm not going to watch the News report on it all, nor am I going to listen to some nannyhead blabber at what he calls a "Press Conference" but which is really a lovefest worship session. I'm going to get in the closet and get my Ostrich suit.
And this is just the first 70 days.

Never heard of the pregnant dog term. Enlighten me.
By the way, the liberal press is so in love with the guy, that nothing he does is ever critized.
Its hard to find a movie to watch that doesn't dump all over our former president, or anything conservative, for that matter. Then you hear stories about how hard the actors work, when they are making a movie. What ever happened to the days when acting was considered a less than worthwhile profession. What if they had to do real work for a living, with real wages. What if they were taxed at 90%.

Pregnant dogs are always female. That means the "B" word. Sincyrman, you are right about the mainstream liberal press. However, I have been really surprised with the old blue dog democrat Lou Dobbs on CNN lately. He has really been telling it like it is and letting the chips fall where they may. www.nrtw.org/en/free-tagging/lou-dobbs
