Hello, Does anyone know of a barrel manufacture that makes replacement barrels for T/C Hawken & Renegade? I am looking for a fast twist in 45 cal to shoot large conical bullets. I have 2 GM Long Range barrels in 50 cal that are 32 in long & shoot great, but I want to try 45 cal. I see that GM is now only offering these barrels in 28 inch lengths. They offer a 28 inch 45 cal with a 1:30 twist, but I would like to try a 1:18 twist at 30 plus length. Is there a machinist that would build or install a breach plug in a barrel blank? Any help would be greatly appreciated in helping me find a way to make this happen.
Thanks Bil

Thanks 7mm I called Oregon Barrel who they use last week. The lady said that their gunsmith died and they do not know if they will offer gunsmith services in the future. GM will not make custom barrels unless you order at least 100 barrels.
Thanks Bill

You are gonna pay for it but ClearWater Reboring can probably get it done. They will do it with smooth bored blanks if you can find one and they will make the cutter but you will pay at least twice as much as a GM barrel costs.

have you tried colerain barrels. they made me a 58 cal with a 1-32 twist rate. drilled and tapped for a breech plug that i got from track of the Wolf. i then had pecatonica long rifles put the front sight on. i used a tang sight and mounted the under lug and ramrod thimbles (t/c) myself. the gun shoots wonderfully with 520 gr Minnie's over 120 T7 RS at 1575 fps. i use this just in case the deer get lippy about my 50 cal. FYI barrel was $150, BP 35, and 7 for the dovetail groove. pm for more info

A few years back I made over a TC renegade into a long range ML for 1000 yard shooting. I used a Green Mountain cartridge barrel blank and had it breeched and a under barrel tenon installed by Pecatonica River. I do not remember where I bought the patent breech plug. They did an outstanding job. I haven't been able to shoot on a 1000 yard range but with 97 grains of Swiss # 1 1/2 and a 425 grain bullet it placed five shots into 7 1/2" at a measured 637 yards. P.S. the barrel is 36 inches long.
