several guys have inquired about bedding the bdl stock solid for storage, here goes. lots of pics
this a a HS stock im prepping for Howa, first i sit the action in the stock lined up with screws in place and mark the rear edges with a sharp pencil [img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0764.jpg"img] [img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0765.jpg"img]
then i tape the stock off with blue painters tape, the blue makes a good defined line to dremel against
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0766.jpg"img]
next comes the fun part, this shows the cutter i use in the dremel. one must be very careful or you will make a scar in a hurry [img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0767.jpg"img]
next i dremel all around the edges and the interior of the stock and scuff the block as well. you will notice my (hold) on the dremel . I hold overhanded with my fingers firmly planted on the stock and controll the movement with the rear hand also fingers against stock. if you dont you WILL mess up a good stock.. [img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0768.jpg"img]
this is what it looks like after the dremel chews on it a while
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0769.jpg"img]
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0771.jpg"img]
then i drill 1/8" holes in the block at different angles to give the bedding something to bite into..
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0772.jpg"img]
next comes the filler block ( styrofoam) this needs to be cut very snug and any cracks filled with putty
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0773.jpg"img]
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0774.jpg"img]
[img src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn218/billsheliatravis/DSC_0775.jpg"img]
I try to get about 3/16-1/4" depth between the action and filler block. this one gets put up till the barreled action gets back from black ice, if there is any interest i will take some more pics of the bedding process, if not I have bored you long enough...Bill
