What type and brand of bag or pouch do you guys use while hunting ? I need something at least 13" or more in length to hold my 3 piece ram-rod, bullet starter, bullets, primers, powder tubes, among other items etc to take with me while hunting next fall. Always kept most of that stuff in the pockets of my hunting jacket but, since I will be hunting with a 3 piece ram-rod, I need something to put it in as it won't fit in a pocket. Looking for something made of leather or nylon with a shoulder strap. Midway carries a ton of them, but, figured I'd ask you guys first since I'm ignorant about them. Any recommendations ? Thanks for any replies.

Bass pro shops, a fanny pack with shoulder straps is what I use or you could go the back pack route. I take it off once I get to my blind or tree stand

When hunting I carry nothing but 4-5 speedloaders. No patches, no tools or anything. I do carry one thing: A small tool that slips over the ramrod end that helps me seat the bullet.
This stuff all fits in my pocket(s).
Your take down ram rod may fit in one off those strap on hand muffs. If you take a small backpack for over garments and a little lunch, all these things can also go in there. They usually have small outer pockets too. Once on stand, the essential items can be put in jacket pockets. I've been known to use my knee high rubber boots to hold my shooting stick and my normal length ramrod once I'm settled in.

Eventually you can find a nice sized one one that will work just dandy for a ML possibles bag with lots of compartments and a long shoulder strap. I think I payed $2 for the last all leather one I bought for my son. Might get some looks from your buds but it will probably be more functional that about anything you can buy otherwise.

I don't put my rod in my "possibles bag" and get by fine with a small one. It is about 2 1/2" x 6" and about 8" high. Picked it up in WalMart a "dollar store" or someplace similar. Same type of little canvas zippered bag that folks use to carry their cameras. Has main compartment and a couple smaller zippered outer compartments. They are readily available in a variety of sizes. All loads, primers, bullets, and wads I put in my powder vials and drop them inside with different loads indicated by color of the cap : www.royalcs.com/pics/#vials Has enough room to include a pocket sized camera as well. I think the cost was about $12 but I forget a lot at my advanced state of senility. It is padded enough to give good protection to contents and still is small enough to carry easily and has a long strap so I can sling it around my neck and over my shoulder if desired. Sometimes gets pretty dirty after bouncing around in the 4-wheeler while fording creeks and mud holes and washing it off when I return and letting it dry is easy and effective.

I hunt in PA and Iowa and have to wear an orange vest, so I wear an orange bird hunting vest. Lots of pockets and the game bag in back carry everything--powder charges, bullets and sabots, extra primers, T-handle for ramrod, range finder, binocs...
Just be sure to get one that is made of nice quiet material and is not "scratchy" and noisy. I found one at Cabela's for about $25.
