Went to a show today and writer and tv hunter Ron Spomer was there. He had a cutaway of a centerfire clip fed AccuStock gun there. The one thing that really caught my eye was the recoil lug area. The bedding blocks well for the lug was tapered on the front side and a screw in the bottom of the stock went through a wedge that was flat on the lug side and tapered on the front to match the wells taper. When the screw is torqued the wedge pinches the action side of the lug against the back of the well of the bedding block locking it in place. I did ask if future ML's might have AccuStocks but he didn't know. I also asked if AccuStocks would fit older AccuTrigger guns he didn't know that either. I've heard that the stocks are not interchangable (maybe on this site?) but not sure. I'm sure this would be a plus for the synthetic stock guns if it would work.

I called Savage and asked them about the stock a few week's back. I was told that they didn't sell them separate and that they would not fit the MLII... Drop

The big change for the Savage centerfires was in 2006 when they went from a staggered feed magazine to a centerfeed magazine. The Short Action (SA) action screw spacing went from 4.275" to 4.400". The only SA actions that stayed with the 4.275" spacing was the 10ML-II and the SA centerfire actions chambered for the 204 Ruger and the .223 Remington as there was not a centerfeeed mag for them. I was told now all centerfire SAs will be 4.400" and supposedly the 10ML-IIBP will be 4.400" also (it uses the newer generation synthetic stock [not the Accustock]). It will be interesting to see if Savage keeps the 10ML-II at the 4.275" spacing or to reduce parts inventory "on the line", changes it to the larger spacing.
