It seems that the best combo for most of us has been a duplex of N110/H322. I have heard of substituting 4759 for the N110, but you probably need one more powder for your main charge. A primer charge of 14gr N110 under 61gr H322 with a 250gr bullet will yield a speed a little less than 2500 to 2600fps, depending on temps and your barrel.

i did check out the load info before. wondering if i can use like 10 grains of 4759 or 5744 and then 60 grs of rl 7. anybody try this load out? That should be a pretty fast shooting load for 250 grain projectiles. It may be a little hard on sabots in warmer temps but I am not sure. But the pressures should be within safe ranges. At one time I was shooting 14/61 of 4759/10X and that kicked pretty hard but was very accurate until I got tired of getting my brains rattled. Just remember that increasing the booster powder can have dramatic affect on pressures so be careful to keep within the guidelines of those suggested loads in the Tips section. Doug

i did check out the load info before. wondering if i can use like 10 grains of 4759 or 5744 and then 60 grs of rl 7. anybody try this load out? I have been shooting 6.5 gr of 5744 with 51gr of R7 That pushed my 333 Gr LBTs at 2100+ FPS SBH sabot . ;D I think you will need a 300 gr. bullet to get the most from R7. Interestingly w/ a 260gr boolit i don't get any more speed. I believe rbark has stated this also. The reason I am using the booster is: without it I see unburnt powder in the barrel. I have a recessed BP and use the savage type vent liner. with the booster I can also use my stock of Remington 209/410 primers. ;D ;D Goes bang every time even when left outside in 18* F for 3 hrs. to cold soak. Hi All, looking for a good duplex load in my savage. i have the following powders on hand: RL 7, I 4759, AA 5744. WOULD LIKE THE FPS AROUND 2450-2550. THANKS AHEAD OF TIME. A 70 grain load may be too much powder for a 250 grain bullet at 2500fps. Perhaps 65 grains might present a better pressure insensitive level. You didn't say what weight of bullet you plan to use but 250 must be implied because 2500fps with a 300 grain bullet is too much to expect with the 70 grain loads mentioned. I don't have a load to offer but taking a load certain to be low such as say 8/57 4759/RL7 and then adjusting to get your speed will be well within the practical shooting levels normally seen in the 10ML with this weight bullet. A practical pressure estimate would compare with the factory load of a 300 grain bullet with 44 grains of N110 at 2200fps. However keep an eye out for sabot disruption and accuracy. An accurate load just short of your expected speed should be accepted rather than trying to make a faster load accurate. You should be able to find a well suited load.

well, i shot the ml today. because it was so windy i shot only one round through the chrony. 10 grs of 4759 and 60 grs of rl7 for 2426 fps. which is fast enough, heck i ain't hunting rhino! accuracy wasn't anything to right home about. will more than likely goe back to 45-46 grs of 5744 and 250 shockwave. shoots 3/4" groups with that load. really puts the twist on those speed beef to. but i may go to the 300 gr xtp to see how it does. thanks all for the posts.
