Okay, I bought a tc encore at a good deal. In a weird caliber. 358 rem ultra mag. There is no info on this online or any where. I don't reload I don't know what brass bullet or anything. Thinking bout selling barrel and buying a different barrel. No big deal I bought it right.... But any info will help...thanx in advance

Interested in getting rid of the barrel maybe a trade? I got three or four and that sounds up my alley. I may give up two for it.

jmho- without any reloading experience- i don't think anyone should attempt a wildcat project. i would either sell it or lay it back until you have experience or get around some reloader that has wildcatting experience- all for safety purposes. after reading rossmans post-it would be interesting if you could try to chamber a 300rum brass(blank) in it. it appears someone wanted to get .358 cal bullets up in speed etc. for example in the 5 stock barrel 300rums we get .5-.7moa w/ 180gn @ approx 3225fps - one hell of a load. some info load data 358umt www.stevespages.com/358_20_250.html

Wasn't gun writer Bryce Towsley writing about the .358 uitra mag a while back? Might research some of his articles and get some data/info.

How close is this to the .358 Norma Mag? Maybe you can compare case capacity of water for starters?

It's way bigger than that Dans. Case capacity is around 105 grains.

ammoguide.com/cgi-bin/ai.cgi?sn=fhMlLtkjrJ&catid=637 It seems to me that the guy who posted this data is using powders on the fast side for this cartridge and according to Towsley it does better with slower burners such as RL-25, old H870 I think was mentioned. 7828 may be getting there with lighter bullets. With the encore you don't want to push maximum loads but keeping it to 60,000 PSI and under the round shouldn't be any harder on a frame than heavy 45/70 loads. You can still get very good velocities with lower end loads. I certainly would not want to push the encore frame to 65000 PSI that I read was the max for this cartridge. It is rare to find a round this big chambered for the encore and it is not recommended by most of the authorities on the set up.

I use imr 4350 in my rem 700 ss mountain rifle, (30-06) imr 4350 for my 165gr hpbt, and imr 4064 for my 168 hpbtmk both are one hole groups out to 200yds.
