Late doe season was this weekend and the smokeless spoke. Our group harvested 32 does and two coyotes. It started friday snowy and 12 degrees with 15 - 20 mph wind and ended today with a high around 40. If anyone ever doubts 4198 at these temps, it is completely unfounded. Ignition ocurred on all trigger pulls as always with 209Ms. Only two guys used some duplex loads of 5749 and 4198. Longest shot was from a DD/pac encore at 308yrds. Most impressive bullet performanc was a shot that went into a does nose and came out the right side flank. It was quite fun and great time. Two more guys now want smokeless. ;D I could never imagine going back to crappy blackhorn or T7 and neither can any of the others in the group.

Thanks. This one was 208yrds nothing crazy. The stock is a richards microfit. I don't think I will do another from them though. Several months to get it and it was rough as a cob. Lots of sanding and inletting before even getting to pillars and bedding.

I have heard that Richard's stocks are very rough. Not a lot of options for the Savage with a thumbhole though.

In the end, I do like a couple things about the stock. The cheek piece is taller at the rear and it feels good. Shooting off hand it works out nice, I whacked one doe at slightly less than 150 standing up this past weekend and it felt real stable. Your right, not too many options and as long as you know what your in for with Richards I guess its not too bad.
