I have long believed that all the optic builders had the know how and the skills to build quality optics. Just because they offer binoculars that are cheap junk doesn't mean they don't also offer quality.l have Tasco binoculars that are in my opinion as good as any. They are Offshore 21, 7X50. Chrystal clear after over 20 years of use. Completely waterproof against salt and fresh water. Unusual is the fact that each eyepiece is individually adjustable. I have Nicon that are fine but can't be considered better. My point in this review is that a company that offers the $19.95 variety along with the over 100.00 dollar set knows how to build cheap or quality. I wouldn't trade my OS 21 for anything similar that is out there regardless of brand name. I know I am out on a limb but I am not sawing the limb into between me and the tree trunk. Ben

Not at all Ben. I also have a older set of Tasco binos and Bushnells. They are very bright and clear and serve my purposes very well.

I've has several horrible tasco's. I used to buy those "pronghorn" 3 X 9's whan I was a kid in school working for my dad for $2 an hour with a $5 allowance....no exceptions. It was all I could to muster up the $30-$40 for a scope. Used em on a 22 hornet, 30-06 and they all failed. When I came out here and had to buy a slug gun, I "upgraded" to a tasco "Worldclass" 2 x 7. This scope took a few years of abuse on a Ithaca Deerslayer and then an HR slug hunter. Bought it 20 years ago. One of the kids at camp has it now cause I sold him the HR when I began ML'ing.
That scope is still kicking. However, after I bought my 1st Leupold, I've never looked back. Only other scope I hav on a "real" gun is the Nikon that came on your gun Ozark. That scope has held up and it is very clear. Adjustments also work very well.

Of three Tasco's I have had, only one could be truly be referred to as a Trashco. It was for a .22 RF and was pure junk. The other two were made in Japan prior to the company farming out to the cheapest Tom, Dickie or Harry they could find. One is a 4x CF scope on a .22 and the other is a 6-24x AO Rangefinding scope that sits on an Encore Tactical 20. The only thing I regret is not buying two more offered at a great price when I got the 6-24. The optics, quality and accuracy are outstanding.............but that was long prior to the management making stupid decisions.

The trend seems to start with quality and then start looking for ways to use cheaper parts and quality and still charge the same price. Not just a few companies, almost all. I say almost because there are probably a few companies that tries to improve quality but I am not aware which. Rossman could probably name those who have a record of going to the dogs and those that have held high standards.

Well I paid the price this very year for allowing a cheap scope onto a hunting gun. I have a 20ga youth Rem pump and on it sitis a Simmons Pro Diamond in I think 1.5x5x32. Well My 7 year old son had his first real chance at a deer and it was taken away by poor choice in optics. We saw the does at 15 min before end of shooting time. At 5 minutes before they were beside the blind at 40 yards. I told him to get the one he wanted in the scope and get ready. I could see them plain as day and he said I can't find them. I told him to keep trying. With about 1 min left I took and looked though the scope and sure enough there was nothing in the scope because it was not letting enough light though. Next year that 20 gauge will have new glasses. It's really hard to tell a 7 year old that you just couldn't afford something good enough for him to get his deer. Well never again!
