Buddy brought his Beagles down yesterday it rained all day. But we managed to get 4. The dogs did great for the weather conditions. Used my old Stevens 94 .410 that I shot my first squirrel with. Got 3 with 4 shots. Love beagles. 161

Hunting for rabbits with beagles is a blast that has produced many fond outdoor memories and friendships over the years. The howling of the beagles as they pursued their quarry was like getting a dose of adrenalin. As the beagles pushed the bunnies they would often circle and return to familiar surroundings where the hunters were normally waiting for a chance at a shot. Then again sometimes a bunny would do an unexpected move that would have you scratching your head as to what just happened.
Also one of my favorite wild game meals when done right is rabbit. Minus the lead pellets of course. ;D
Tagging 3-bunnies on the fly with 4-shots is a very good average.

I grew up with (2) .410's. I killed dozens of squirrels and rabbits with them. Very effective inside 30 yds and they don't shred little animals like a 12 or 20 ga.
Favorite load was a Winchester 3" with 11/16 oz of #4 shot.
Never hunted over beagles but it sure sounds like fun.

The guy had three dogs all female. One looked like a beagle should the other two had some blue-tick in them. He said they were a bread out of Canada. They were still small dogs. I use to run coon hounds until I started working nights. Love to hear those little dogs run a track. My Jack Russel Zoe and Guss went along. Guss pointed a couple but neither of my two dogs could figure out what all this barking was about. I could have shot the once Guss pointed but we let them go so the beagles could run the track. Pretty neat watching 5 dogs in a line with they're noses to the ground
ET I never really never liked rabbit always tough. But last night I took the back legs and loins. Breaded them in flower, browned them in butter. Covered the bottom of a pan with bacon put the rabbit in and covered them with a few strip of bacon. Covered the pan and put it in the oven for an hour and a half. I like rabbit now,, a lot..
