I've been hunting for meat and had about 8 does come out Friday evening, my Savage was loaded w/ a Barnes 250 Expander for short range shot at the largest doe in the group 140 yds and seemed I missed as they all just kind of hung around. I reloaded and shot the next one w/ a 250 either the FTX or SST in the rush I kind of don't remember the color of the tip at 180 yds. With that shot they all scattered as I watch the one I shot run about 75 yds. drove out w/ the Kubota to retrieve the 2nd doe and picked her up and went over to where I shot the first doe and ended up i had two on the ground. both loads were packed w/ 60 gr N-120. Never thought I could take two deer w/ a muzzleloader. Thanks to all here who share their info on the Savage to make my learning curve short and so successful.

Congrats! Get your loading routine down and you can stack up more than 2!

Who would have thought, of the two shots above, only the Barnes expander was recovered. I'll get the camera tomorrow and post a pic.

Do all those bullets hit the same POA?

Close enough out to 125 yds, where I've been sighting in. The Barnes smashed through the leg bone and was under the skin on the far side. Petals were mostly flat against the sides of the bullet. The SST hit high as I had held at the top of her back expecting more drop and was a complete pass thru.
