The 40 cal claimed another deer today. It was a nice, mature 8-pt. Don't know the actual weight but I figure about #350-400 after dragging it to my 4-wheeler and then pulling it up on the rack . Seriously 180-200#. Anyway, the important part. I had to make a snap shot as it was crossing a 8' trail in my woods(I made it ith a 8' bulldozer blade) at a steady walk. From sight to shot was 2 secs or less, no real time to evaluate rack. Load was 12/64 VV-110/Varget, MV 2880, distance 125 yds. Hit in lower part of heart and lungs. Lower 1/3 of heart was gone. Large entrance(~2") hole. No exit. We could not find bullet. Good blood trail. 100 yds. We have 2 week-ends for "gun season" here where I live in AR. Next Fri, I will likely make the change to 195barnes. Again, I was lucky with the 200SST ( no losses yet, nearly 20 deer and son has about the same). The Barnes just kills them more definitively. Sure wish there was a 210-225 TMZ. Pictures soon.

Congratulations on a good shot Steve! It seems that no matter what bullet you use, shot placement is the most important thing. Richard

I'd settle for a 210gr OR 225gr. TEZ, I don't care for the boat-tail on the TMZ.
Somebody call Barnes and get 'em on it pronto! ;D

I was told there's not enough market to justify the development cost. I'll ask again though on the next order I place.

Congrats on the deer SW! Good to read about bullet performance. The Barnes has a great reputation & I plan on using it this year. I know about them heavy deer, mine get heavier every year! ;D Actually I do to but thats another story.

Two or three may be luck. Forty, not so much. Add my 60+. Good snap shooting...

Great shot Steve. I think it's just instinct when you have to put it together in a hurry. That's where practice and experince pays off. You obviously have plenty of both.
