got some good and helpful ideas from the members yesterday about certain loads and some techniques and things to try in making these things shoot their best. anyways one of the members mentioned an intermittent bore clean while playing around with these things, just wondering exactly how that is done. i always swab between each shot, but after awhile, just swabbing has to affect the consistency. any help on explaining would be a great help.

A bit surprising someone hasn't replied to this, yet. Last year, I used four small drops of Rem 40X bore cleaner on a patch followed by a clean patch between shots. It kept the bore in the same condition from shot to shot. However, this stuff is apparently abrasive, so will be trying some other type of bore cleaner this year.
Some of the other guys use the same procedure with other bore cleaners, but I am not sure of the specific names.

Several use Danno's method, I have good luck swabbing with denatured alcohol, 1 patch both sides followed by a dry patch both sides.

Just curious? would My Brother's 180 shots fired using 4759 and 5744 without cleaning and on the same vent count as Intermittent Bore Cleaning. He definitely isn't done shooting the rifle yet. ;D Even with that number of shots, he shot at 200 Yards a 5"+- group last wed. in a 4 to 5 minute wind using a never fired in that gun before load of 51 gr reloader 7 with a .5cc dipped booster of 5744. the vent had opened to .038 in those 180 shots, we count or primers to know how much we shoot. The bullet was my hard cast, the sabot was the SBH. The rifle cleaned with 2 wet patches of Hoppes #9 and then a dry patch. the dry patch was nearly spotless, his rifle has a very smooth bore which I now understand is very uncommon for a ML10II. This morning he called me and was proud of the -3" group he had just shot at the same 200 yard distance. again w/ my Cast Boolitzs. but this time with a heaped all it will carry dipper of SR4759 (44Gr) . I actually made the dipper for him. Ken

For me, it's four scant drops around the patch followed by one dry patch. I use Butch's Bore Shine just because I have it.

i use a brush and dry patch between shots to help pass the time for cooling and to keep bore condition more consistant. if it gets hard to load, uaually after 5 shots i do a couple brushings and a scubbing with hoppies #9 and dry patches and i get EXCELENT results.
