Saw this buck for about 5 seconds this Saturday morning around 8:00 am on Indiana's opening day of gun season. He made the mistake of coming out of the woods again about 4:15 pm and this time I was ready for him. First shot 198 yds right behind the shoulder (hole you can see in 2nd pic). He wobbled around out in the field and I reloaded in about 30 seconds and gave him another one high in the opposite shoulder and that anchored him. Second shot at 203 yds broke shoulder, shattered spine, and lodged in hide on off side. He is 17" wide and field dressed at 178 lbs. Load was 195 Barnes, Harvester Blue Sabot, and 63g H4198.

Chris
That is a nice buck with a lovely rack and looks like with that swollen neck he was ready for action but not the kind you intended for him. ;D
Congrats on your success.

Congrats,
I have been out bow hunting and haven't seen anything that big and our opener is this weekend would be tickled pink if a big boy like this walked by.

I am surprised with the Barnes and high shoulder shot that he did not go down immediately. It is funny how it works sometimes.

Nice shot and nice deer Chris. It would, however, have been more valid if you'd shot him 5 times ;D. Nice to see all that homework pay off!
