Good Morning all. New to the forum although I have been reading and learning for a couple of years. I have been shooting a Hawken since the early '80's. Recently I purchased a 10ML II and just shot it over the weekend. Quite a difference. I'm from central Illinois and hope to be able to take a deer at 200yds or so with the Savage. In the coming months I will have lots of questions on this rifle. Thanks, Greg

Welcome Greg, I know you will enjoy tuning up your MLII. It will do what you expect and more and it is fun getting everything perfect. By being real particular in all the loading it is a strong and safe firearm. Be sure to have a reference mark on your ram rod and use it as a safety check always before shooting a load. Good luck and don't be reluctant in posting here or any of the other areas. Again, Welcome. Ozark

Droptine, I go to Princeton once or twice a year. Last year just once, I went to the E. Peoria show last year which I liked a little better. I can't say if I'll get to Princeton this month or not. I have a lot of odds and ends to finish up in the house this fall. My weekends are consumed mostly by the house. Greg

Welcome Gill,
This is a great place for answers to most of your hunting/shooting/reloading questions. I'm from Peoria Co. and bought a nice Japanese WWII rifle at the Princeton gun show a couple years ago. Type 99 - series 1. 1st and only rifle I've bought at a gun show.

Greg, Welcome to the board. Smokeless is a beautiful thing and getting used to it is easy. Better velocity,no smoke, easier cleanup longer range are all benefits.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Last night I ordered some sabots from ASG over in Iowa. When I get them I hope to report some decent accuracy for the Savage. I would like to hunt with it this year.

Gill, Welcome to the board! You will find the answers to most any smokeless muzzleloader shooting question here. Probably the #1 tip I got here when I started,,,,, wait plenty of time between shots to let the barrel cool!!!. If you haven't read through the "Tips and Hints" section, that is a great place to start. Boarhog
