Hello, everyone. Well they say third time is a charm..It certainly was for the little .25-25 Stevens Ballard No. 3. 1st two outings groups were anywhere from 1" to 3". Here is what it likes: 22.5gr. 3FG Swiss, 1/16" SPG grease wad, sandwiched between two .027" thick beeswax wads, .8gr. Kapok fiber. Original Ideal #25730..cast soft scrap..100.0gr., .258 dia. SPG. Set up on 50yd. bench..sights are original mid-range vernier adj. tang, windage adj. globe front with interchangable appatures. 4 shots in 1/4"! 5th felt different..and was out of group a bit. Just recieved bottle of PuffLon filler in mail...more experimenting ahead. I had given up on black nearly 20 years ago..dissapointed in the quality of the then available Goex. Gave Swiss a try...and I am hooked! Burns moist without caking..like the old Curtis & Harvey Hodgdon imported from Scotland in the mid 70's.

I believe Swiss to be the best Black Powder available. I have been using it exclusively for over 10 years now in my muzzleloaders. Note: Swiss is 10-20% hotter than Goex (& all other real BPs on the market). Swiss is a sporting grade BP, & Goex & all the others are rifle grade BPs. I always cut my Swiss charges at least 10% from any other manufacturer suggested powder load & then work up slowly to find the most accurate charge.
