Got an order of the new Hornady 250 FTX(.452”), 265 FTX (.430”) and 325 FTX (.458). The 325 shot well with the BO standard load of 60 gr N120. Maybe I can get it to shoot a little better if I play with it. I got about the same velocity using the 325 gr as I do with the 300 B.O. and N120. This bullet is about ½ the price and I think it is designed for about 2000 fps so it should work well. I like the looks of the .430 265FTX. I think it will be a little flatter if I can get it to shoot better. I used MMP green .430 sabot and it loaded with medium pressure. I would like to try it with the harvester green crush rib sabot that I have but it might be to loose. I also want to try it with some N110.

bowbender6, First of all nice report and nice shooting and fast since those bullets just came available not to long ago.
With the Savage what primer did you use?
How was the recoil with the 325 if you can compare it to a 300 BO or any other 300 you may have shot?
Are you going to try N110 with the 250 also?
Good luck and keep up the great work. If you go with these as your hunting load or do any penetration testing I would love to hear the results.

Got the bullets because I got 20% off at Midway USA for my birthday, plus Hornady is 2 month’s behind on some bullets and I wanted to do some testing will the weather is cool.
Primer Fed209 – sorry I left that out
The recoil with the 325 didn’t seem much different than with N120 60gr 300 BO but I use a Lead sled with only one bag for bench work, then zero the load shooting of bags before season.
Yes I plan on testing with N120 and the 250FTX. I like the speed and less recoil of the 250 gr bullets, but have not quite got the same accuracy and with the reports of the 250 SW coming apart I have steered clear of the because I had better options. I hope the 250FTX shoots better.
I have not done any penetration testing and I don’t have any reference to compare to other bullets but if someone wants to test some I would send them some.

With the .430 265 gr. bullets if you use the Harvester green high pressure sabots (the non crush ribs) they will fit tighter. Those sabots will handle smokeless powder. If you get some good results with the FTX bullets in that caliber I would like to hear about it. DH
