Here is an interesting question.
Has anyone ever considered trying to turn the ML II into a pseudo browning 50 single shot. In other words if you attached one of those huge barrel compensator/recoil reducers, put in a huge charge of slow burning powder, a 650 grain a max bullet or the like, properly sized, mounted the thing on a tri pod or bi pod, added a few pounds of weight, and let fly?
I am not sure what the operating pressures would be, anyone have a guess? This sort of thing could be a great home winter project some time. Would make a great wood chuck gun for guys like Wilyms, or a great ice berg smasher up on Lake Superior in the early spring.
It seems like the concept would work using the correct powder, and maybe even using a slightly undersized bullet and sabot.
Any thoughts?

IMO, you won't be able to stabilize that bullet with a 1:24 twist.

Just thinking out loud, yes thinking a muzzle loading beast,
Good point on the twist, do you think a 1:8 or 1:10 would work if you rebarreled with say a 30" to keep things away from the ears. Would the breach plug be up to the task?
