There are several of you who are shooting sabotless, and have shot with sabots in your .45 barrels. What twist rate have you found to shoot well with both?
It might be a pipe dream, but I'm interested in finding a twist rate that will shoot "lights out" with saboted .40's as light as 175gr up to 250gr .45's sabotless sub-MOA. I have yet to shoot the PN barrel with 1:22 twist sabotless, but expect that a tighter twist may be needed for the .45's.
Also imagine that a non-tapered bore would be much better for shooting sabotless, but wonder about the accuracy of a non-tapered bore shooting the saboted .40's. Any suggestions?

If you are going to get a new barrel please specify that it not have taper if you want to shoot sabotless. I had a barrel with taper and it created problems for me sabotless. I think it would be a bit more forgiving with a sabot.

The PN barrel on my 10MLII does have a taper and shoots better than some of my CF's with a saboted load, but it would probably be a nightmare to try to go sabotless with it. Richard Franklin tells me he used 1:20 twist. The guy really knows his stuff better than most of us here. Anyone using a 1:20 twist barrel?

i chose a 1:20 twist but havent shot it much yet. the couple loads that shot good for me last week will be tried again to confirm consistancy vs just having a good day. 1:22 has worked so well with others i dont see anything wrong with 20 or 22 twist. i went with 20 cuz i eventually want to play with larger bullets, but either should be fine with just about anything. even sabotless 300gr bullets shouldn't "need" a faster twist than saboted 200gr

My #1 has a 20 twist Shilen, 1.2??" for 5"+ and then steps down to a 1" straight contour. It has never shot the itty bitty saboted groups I see posted by the PN's but it averaged around 2" @ 200yds for 3 shots. All my smallest groups have came when shooting sabotless with this barrel. I think sabotless has more to do with it being better than the twist especially when you look at Deadeye's sabotless groups which I believe are shot with a standard PN DD barrel.
One thing I also noticed with mine, the harder I pushed it with the saboted loads, the worse it shot. Liked to be in the 2500-2800fps range with H4198 or duplexes.
