What scopes are you guys mounting on your Savages. Looking at the Zeiss 3.5-10, but the 3-9 is three hundred cheaper. Will the 44mm objective fit with med. rings?

I've got a 42mm mounted in med. rings and I have 1/8" of space for what it's worth.

I've had the Zeiss 3-9x40 on my Savage since day one and that's been several years now and it's never missed a beat so far. It's a really nice scope for $400. You won't go wrong with either one of them.

I've got the 3.5-10x44 Conquest on medium Warne rings and there is about 1/8" of space between the scope and the barrel. Like nic58 said you can't go wrong with either.

If I was to go with a Zeiss Conquest on a heavy kicker I would lean torwards the non-AO models. It is tough to beat the bottom of the line 3-9X40. If I was to spend more I would go for a scope with more features that I want.

Bow,
If you shoot 60 gr's of N120 or 70 gr's of H4198 with 300 gr bullets--they will kick ya. IMO, no harder than a 12 ga slug gun though.

Mark 12 ga wins that fight ;D To me thats the great advantage about being able to shoot smokeless. The flexibility in loads is endless. You can load down for a recoil sensitive shooter or load up for elephant (a la bigmoose and his 400g Busters).
