Not to get away from the Savage, I have owned one since they came out I bought a NULA last year due to lighter weight. Shooting 44gr of 4759 with .275 Hydra-Cons 5 dear all shot 4-5 inches behind front shoulder destroyed the meat from both shoulders. (Great performance I know but a waste of meat) Has anyone here used the .275 Ballistic Extremes and if so what kind of results. Would also like any input on My best Savage load of 60gr. N-120--.300gr. BO-BCR. shot with 4759 and the BO out of the NULA. Love the performance of this bullet. Any input will be appreciated Thanks.

Ive shot them but not on game in my NULA 50cal. A friend has used them with good results but high meat damage is likely. It slammed the deer so hard it knocked them over. Few ever got up again. In gel they nearly destroyed the plywood the gel blocks were sitting on.
A better option might be a 250gr BONDED ShockWave. It penetrates about the same as a 275gr BE in the gel test but expanded a bit less. Ive never tried any 300gr with smokeless yet in mine but i dont see why your 4759 load and a Barnes O wouldn't be ok. Others have shot the 300gr SST and 300gr Harvester with good results with similar amounts of 4759.
Hard to tell until you try it. Mine likes HSB sabots so much, its hard to use anything else.

IMO and this may come as a surprise to some.. ;D...it does not get any better than the BO in a .50 cal. It is very accurate with N120. If you are getting good results shooting the BO with 4759 you need look no further. There is no unnecessary collateral damage with this bullet, always 2 holes, does not come apart, and works at any angle and is a bone crusher.About 80 head of deer will testify to this bullets effectiveness.. ;D What else do you need?

I am going to try the Barnes 225 grain bullet intended for the 45 long colt. Shooting 45 grains of 4759 from the plactic jug. No deer taken yet but will report when it happens. I expect typical Barnes performance.

Mine shoots the 45-225gr Barnes XPB really well with 41-43gr of N110. I haven't tried that one yet with 4759 but the previous owner did with excellent results too.

Your absolutely right Tar12. Shot a lot of different bullets out of the Savage. IMO nothing beats the Barns and collateral damage is minimal. Just have not shot any with 4759 out of the NULA. Just a little worried of what the NULA can handle.

Just a little worried of what the NULA can handle. Recoil will be very stout if using the max. of N120 in the Nula but nobody says you have to use the max or N120 for that matter. Try some 5744 or Re-7. The .457/.458 bullets have a tendency to shoot well regardless of what you are pushing them with. Beware as any 300 grn bullet shot in that Nula is going to be felt. I have handled a Nula and and there was not much there to absorb recoil. Huntmeister and I ran some .457 Rems through his Douglas barrel using 4759 with 42 and 44 grns respectively. They shot well. While his Encore conversion is definitely lighter than its Savage counterpart it is a little heavier than a Nula. What kinda of components do they use testing the Nula? You might be better served going with a faster powder and a 225-250 grn bullet to keep thing manageable as already suggested.

Melvin recommends only N110 and 4759 with typical Savage book load data. IMO Re7 is probably ok but i haven't tried it yet.
The only slower powder data ive seen is 55gr of 4198 and it was with a 275gr BE IIRC.
