Today was my first semi-serious attempt at seeing what I can do as far as groups. Both guns have been bedded and had the 3'rd pillar installed by Richard. 1'st one is a .50 Savage and the other is the .45 Pac-Nor Savage.I've had them both over 6 months now but have shot 2 or 3 shots at the most on a couple of occasions. Today i put up 2 targets and alternated guns between them, so they cooled a little but not much. Left side is the .50, 44.5 gr of N110, MMP short black, and 250 XTP. Right side is the .45 Pac-Nor with 62 gr of H4198, light blue harvester, and 200 gn XTP. 100 yard groups, what ya'll think for my first real outing? The pacnor walked right down the target, from the top to bottom shots 1-5, wondering if this is because the barrel was heating up? If so, then with proper cooling they should stack right on top of each other. I was super pleased with the factory .50, don't see how I could hope for much more out of it. Here is my not so steady table I was shooting off of.

I think the deer are in trouble. Both of those guns will shoot. Be sure to try the 300 gr XTP in the .50 as well if you want to stick with .452 bullets. The .458 300 gr bullets shoot very well in the .50 for many members. You're off to a great start.

You got a Big Problem Howa...! Which one are going to hunt with.,lol. On the .45 pacnor which shot hit the green? it was the out bullet, were you shootin dirty or clean before this outing? Great shooting ,you were obviously doing YOUR part. You got some good shooters there.

Howa
That is the first time I have seen side by side targets shot from a 45 and 50. They are both shooters and nicely done even from a table not so solid.

I've shot less than 10 shots thru the gun, but never cleaned it so the 1'st shot was a "dirty" barrel, but it was the one in the green by itself, that's why I wondered if the rest walked down the target because of the warm barrel. All 5 just dropped in right below the previous shot.

I wish Richard would shoot dirty with his weekly grouping we might could put a finger on that first shot variance. IMO you would think tighter ,cold barrel more pressure more velocity. But more velocity doesn't always means a higher shot. IIRC a lower shot usually because bullet exit time is ealier meaning less barrel rise, thus lower impact. For now lets call it a flyer until you shoot next time. Keep it dirty please , if it happens again, its head scratchin time.
