again.. ;D I have been told this combo simply is not accurate..but you can not prove that by me as this load has proven its self time and again...hot and cold weather and no cool rod and no Rem oil and no swabbing...and maybe 2 minutes of wait time. I normally do not shoot this time of the year BUT duty calls as a farmer friend asked if I would be interested in some depredation control on his farms. The Buck to Doe ratio is really skewed in this particular county. The district biologist I spoke with estimated that there was 25 does or more to every buck in this particular area. I went on a recon mission 2 days ago to inspect and scout the area to find that in EVERY woodlot the foilage was void at deer head height. Crop damage was severe as well. I have not seen this much carnage from deer before to this extent! I got the entire family on board for this mission...we loaded up every legal firearm for this morning range session.. ;D We are ready and so is the .45!

What kind of speed are you getting? Tim 2650-2700 fps in 38 degree weather. Guessing slightly higher in warm weather. I did not have the chrono with me today.

I do not think you will be able to eat all the deer that your family will shoot. But then again I understand "Q" has a pretty big appetite. Good luck on reducing the herd before disease etc. can enter the picture.

Youp...it really does at times...but this aint one of them! ;D Larry..I will post them for sure as that is all I am going to use. Deadeye..my farmer friend will adopt you if you want to kill deer. It is to late this year to get put on the list but if you are serious I can hook you up for sure. Jim.. I do not plan on keeping but a few for myself. I do know of several families who are having a rough time of it with this economy and the extra free protein will be welcomed.

Looks like your gun likes the combination! Richard Yes it does...but I know of others who do not fair as well with their .45 and this combo and then there are those that shoot the 195 better than the SST? My barrel came from KerryB by way of RB. It was a early run for RB.It was my understanding at the time that RB had Pac-Nor hand select a no. of barrels for him. I do not remember the excact no. but 4-6 of them sounds about right. I have forgotten the dimensions but will have to check that out. I do remember that RB asked them to hold a extreme tolerance or particular no.on them and it would take awhile to fill his order as a result IIRC. At any rate it is keeper.

tar12 - Wondering how the recoil is with the 45 vs the 50 with this load. I thought I read you shoot the same load in the 50. Thanks

This 195 combo does not require that special mind set when you ease into the trigger like the 300 grn bullets do...;D

Tar,
Let me add my 2 cents, very nice shooting, I hope there were non-muzzleloader shooters there. I love it when they say, it must be a trick, you can't do that with a ML.

Hmm, I've seen your results with that combo before. I'm starting to question the "luck" aspect. Looks like the real deal to me!

I think next year ,if you don't thin the herd enough this one,you need to have a DOUGS MESSAGE BOARD first annual DEER SHOOT. I'll make the drive as well as others, lol.
