By the way, Johnnywad was over the house today to have me "etch" some information on his new McGowan/Rem. 700 ML barrel. I took the opportunity to inspect the barrel with my Hawkeye bore scope. Visually? It looks the same as a Pac-Nor! This did not surprise me As a matter of fact, just about every custom barrel (CF or ML) tend to look this way. UN-like most factory barrels . Well, thats the reason you put a custom barrel on in the first place ;D. Of course, the borescope can only see the smoothness or lack thereof in a bore. It will pick up any inclusions, defects, fouling and throat erosion, but it will NOT show dimensional differences. That has to be done with an "air gage!" (Don't know of any shooters who have one of these!) I would guess they are pretty pricey ;D Richard

I ain't no machinist but I can tell alot about a bore dimensions by loading a SMOOTH sized sabotless bullet

jray.........I agree! I was just indicating that the borescope can not see this. By thw way, have you done any more sabot less shooting with those Swing-lock size bullets? I am looking forward to getting mine......hopefully in a couple of weeks. Richard

I've been doing nothing but sabotless since I got my smooth swinglock die. Now if I could just figure out what to do with that 100 or so 195's and blue harvesters I bought while waiting on my barrel. Just kidding- I'm sure I can find something to do with the when the weather cools(and I'm not in the woods bow hunting). I've had my best success saotless with the 225FTX and 250 and 300 XTP's. I tried 250 FTX's and my results were inconstient. Sometimes good-moa at 200- and then the next trip keyholing at 100. I don't have access to 250 SST's but would be curious how they compare to the FTX which I think has a thicker jacket. I think that shooting at less than Swinglock pressures jacket thickness is a variable that must be considered for good obturation. I also got some Parkers and haven't been impressed yet but to be honest I really haven't given them a fair shake. It's hard for me to really try to wring out a load when each bullet costs over $1! The 225 FTX shoots really good and is cheap-especially when you stock up on blems. I am curious to see how it will stand up to deer at 2750 fps -broadside shots only!

What all loads have you tried with the 275's jray? My old lot of 4198 was good at 56gr, Deadeye shoots about the same with H4198, slightly less IIRC. 57gr Rel 7 also shot well.

I weighed out a bunch of 56 gr 4198 last week to revisit the original load that shot so well for me with the 250 XTP. It still makes MOA at 100 so I tried the 275's and some 300 gr XTP's. The parkers were 2+ at 100' the 300 XTP's were under an inch. The first two went in the same hole- I had to walk down to the backer to make sure! It was 94* and humid so I'm not sure I was really on my game. I have in no way written the parkers off I just think I am going to wait for a little bit better weather to get serious ( also waiting on some 30mm sig z rings for my new scope ). I'm not sure whether to go up or down on the 4198 though. I think Big Moose' s dime killer is 53.5 gr - i'm not sure about the velocity. Not that I'm a speed freak but if you are using a bullet like the parker why not go for as much as you can get with accuracy. I am looking forward to trying that11/59 with the parkers also. It sure is good with the 250's.

53.5gr H4198 shoots sub MOA with the 300XTP for me as well as Harley, sub 1.5MOA out to 250yds with the 300SST. Approx. 2300fps depending on temps.

jray57- w/275be w/ wool wad/w deep recessed plug- pac#1 likes h4198- 55.5gn @ 2420fps-takes 4 dirty before .6 groups,pac#2-54.5gns @ 2420fps-takes 8 dirty before .5-.6 groups,pac #3(noticbly tighter bore)-53.0- takes 1 dirty-shoots .6 shots 2-12 then wants cleaned, these loads were developed @ 60degrees & shoot the same @ 30degrees. #1 & #2 somewhere around 30 shots dirty accuracy starts to suffer,after 30 clean= 1 patch w/ carb cleaner>then brush a couple strokes>carb patch> then dry patch. i have no idea why they behave like this but i have documented it several times & give each what it likes hope this helps!

Deadeye, Your experience with 1,2,3 pacnors illustrates EACH gun has its own specific diet. Great information for the sabotless shooters and future ones like me. Thank you

gh-your welcome! thats just one bullet, the 327be was different used from pac#1- bore- it wanted 6 to set in which i displayed in that "long thread" ;D did not need cleaning for approx 70-75shots for best accuracy.
next up for #3 is the 300be adventure-it will be interesting but i'm expecting similiar results to the 327 since they appear constructed much the same way(jacket thickness etc.).
**i think we see many difference's due to bore size & the bp collecting carbon-build-up(internally-flame channel) with different powders& lot#'s & temp's & humidity levels in different enviroments-imo**
