I may order two or three barrels at some point in the future, and if I do, you can have one from that if they send them. Also, I called on Friday before the 4th to talk to Dan, and I still haven't heard back from him yet.

Stupid question time, what is a drop? I'm looking to get a McGowen barrel for my 700ML... Are you referring to getting your old barrel back?

you might want to check with Swing Lock. I'm not sure if the drop has to be specific to your barrel or if you can get away with just matching the twist and land and groove measurements? The one I have I know was made from a drop from my barrel. There is a good chance I will cut my barrel down another 2in. That way I will have a back up to make a new die if I manage to mess this one up?

The drop is the portion of the barrel they cut off to provide the finished length. Just a suggestion for those interested in having a die made from the drop. Why not leave the blank full length and have it sent to Swinglock to be cut down before it comes home?

did anyone that requested a drop get one? I would think that any that were rifled within the same time period with the same button would work fine for one of toms adj dies but I am only making assumptions.....

Jon.................barrel a little heavy? Dave W. for one thing, the crowning of the barrel is included with the price..........unless you could specify otherwise? If you send the barrel to Tom, then you will incur an additional price to cut and crown? Why not just be very specific in both a letter and e-mail that you WANT the barrel drop? If your really worried, send a letter "return receipt requested!" Richard

Richard. It is everything I thought it would be. As I said in the beginning I can always make it shorter it is hard to make it longer. On another note I know that the drop was from my barrel to me that is a plus. But that does not answer the question does the drop have to be from your barrel or can it be from a barrel of like specs? If it is a button barrel who know when they change the button or if the button wore. If your barrel is a couple of years old would that make a difference. I'm just injecting questions not answers. The only one that could really answer that question would be Swing Lock. They are really great to work with Tom would give you all the answers either positive or negative and take the time to tell you why. Jon

its pretty clear to me that mcgowen had no intention of sending drops in the first place because many requested them and looks like few IF any got them. IF i ever do another mcgowen barrel it will be through sinarms. Devin will do as requested, I feel relatively sure of that. with mcgowen its a crap shoot.

Considering the issues people have had with just the barrel. I wouldn't feel real comfortable sending my action to them to have them do it.

McGowen sent my drop! I am thinking one of our own has the talent to tap barrels. Someone speak up if you would like to customize some barrel blanks?
Did my own and it was not that hard. I have been told by some brain cells are messing, if I can do one, anyone can!
