I just got first blood using my Savage 50 caliber ML-11. I saw a load here for 60 gr VV120 and the 225 FTX and shot it yesterday. Missed the first one earlier but got the second one. what a bloody mess

That was my load and it is one sweet load, very accurate. I think it is a good varmint load but a grenade for deer at those speeds, in excess of 2550 fps fun load to shoot easy on the shoulder also

It has been a tough seven days, Sator Sun i was doing my speed walk, when crossing a street my right foot hit the curb, I was going wide open, I when airborn landed on my right side, first than my head hit the sidework, hard enough to pop the lenses out of my sunglass's, A gent riding a bike stopprd and asked if I neended help, I said no, he handed me my lenses and said your face is bleeding, not to worry with a face like mine it can only improve got up and speed walk home, my bride asked if I finely jump up, when I should have shut up, aint love grand, don't bleed on the carpet and you have a black eye, I passed on my weight lifting that after, the next morning I couldn't raise my right arm, work on it all two, day two, my right side black and blue, was on fire, dont get old there is no future in it, as for the dental work not that bad except I'm on blood thinners so the doc, had to stichevry thing up....What the hell has this got to with Savage or shootin....OLD AND BRAIN DEAD THATS ME>>>>>back to full speed

Just read what I wrote, it might be a good idea for me read it before posting. How about we say I was drunk or in pain when I wrote it....or I'm just as dumb as a rock.

curt, glad to see somebody else pursing pasture poodles with a boomer. My experiences with the .50 were mostly with 300 gr XTPs and Remingtons. I certaily did not want to risk being underpowered with only one shot and the possibility of a charge. Here's one that took a 300 gr Rem at 178 yards.

How about some new pictures DB...that's old...but beautiful.
A charge was always my worst fear with these Savage beasts. I suggest steel toe boots as a back-up

I was merely reverting to the .50 fun. More recent efforts have been with the .45. There we substitute velocity for bullet weight to ensure adequate stopping power. I'll have to dust off the camera.

My guess? A kick-Eze! They contour nice on a sharp (new or good belt) belt sander. Richard

500cadillac, Richard is correct and I highly recommend it. It is a grind to fit kick-eze. Being 6'-4" I did not cut the stock down and it made the length much better for me. It makes a huge difference when you are only wearing a T-shirt.
