;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D OK, I will show the rest of the days groups. All shot at 100yds. I arrived at the range around 9ish. Temp was around 82 degrees. After my 1st range trip I freefloated my stock to the recoil lug, cleaned the breech plug and the bore. I then ran one patch with Lock Ease Garaphite Lubricant. Prior to firing the 1st shot today I snapped two Fed209A primers then loaded up. Bottom group in the white is numbered in the order they were fired, Fed209A primers. I then adjusted the scope 12 clicks up and fired the 3 shot group above using the SST's with 60gr H4198 and Fed209A's. It measured .694ish by my calipers. I then shot the Barnes with 60gr and the 1st two shots are right there. The 3rd shot I think went high by either barrel heat or maybe it's because the Fed209A primer loaded a little hard? I only had 6 charges of 60 grains loaded in tubes so I could not fire a 4th to verify why it went high. The last group of the day was the XTP's. I used Win209 primers and they were by far the cleanest primers I have used so far in this rig. All sabots used were Harvester light blues. By the time I departed the range around 11:30 the temp was 89 degrees! I let the barrel cool maybe 4-5 minutes between shots. It definitely needs to cool down before I go shoot again. I do want to try 61-62 gr with the SST's and Barnes the next outing. I will not be satisfied until I run 3 through the same hole at 100yds.

Today made the 3rd outing with the McGowen. I left the bore dirty from the last range trip and only cleaned the plug. I did replace the Savage vent with a Lehigh vent. These are the first 3 shots of the day. The gun definitely likes 60gr H4198.

Nothing new Steve ;D I think every PN or McGowan .45 will shoot that load with good accuracy. A good "hunter" load for those that don't have time to "fiddle" around with other powders ;D Good talking with you on the phone. Richard

Steve,as Rich said the 60 grn load is darn accurate in most guns that are shooters. It is hands down the most accurate I have tried in the savage boat anchor. the verdict is still out on the mcgowens but it does well so far.

Hillbill, I know a few who are interested in the McGowens but are still unsure. I think the 60gr load definitely shows its potential. I plan on moving on to test another powder here in a week or so. The gun will definitely shoot the SST's better than I can! I still have a slight pucker factor when pulling the trigger. Its getting less with every range trip though!

this load is not a nose buster by any means, and with a good trigger it can go into a ragged hole. I put a 32 oz tuned trigger in MR PIG and plan to see if that improves things even more when I get a chance to go again. I have to get "WILBER" or #3 dressed this next week and see what it does as well
