I have the same VXIII on my .243. Would make a great long range scope on an ML but would not want it for hunting unless all my shots were going to be way out in a field

I have shot out to 300 yds. on paper and took a buck at 290 yds. last November all using a Zeiss 3-9x40mm Conquest on my Savage 10ML-II. Seems like plenty of scope at that distance for me anyway.

I just put a Redfield 4-12x40 accurange on my KRB and eventhough I have not shot ti that much I would not hesitate to push it to 250+ yards.

I use the Leupold 6.5 x 20 x 40 with their "Varmint Hunter" reticle and then have added a Bullzeye 3X magnifier which pushed the actual X count to around 30X. Hunting applications do not warrant this type of magnification. This is more for us "paper punchers! ;D". For hunting I would be in the 4.5 x 14 range with decent optics. My Burris Short Mag at that power is an excellent scope and has held up well to the pounding I gave it with the .50 and it is still going strong......................(sitting in my safe ;D) Richard
