I gave it the ole eyeball boresight and was 4" right on the first shot. it was pretty windy and I didnt have a very good rest but the last 5 shots were almost one ragged hole. sorry no camera tonight. will shoot er again friday and I think it will earn the nickname " MR PIG"......its going to be a shooter

went to the range this morning and fired pig # 1 again for 10 shots not good, about a 2" group. it would shoot two in the same hole and then the group would move I knew there was a problem and then I figured out what it is. when I opened the bottom metal I could lift the front @ the action screw about .025. the screw was too long and hitting the barrel before it tightened against the action. I went home and shortened the screw and now it will tighten as it is suppose to.kind of embarrasing actually, thats what I get for being in a hurry and not checking everything.well now the problem is fixed and tomorrow we will see if it will earn the name "MR PIG"

Yep, that front screw in the 700ML's can only go in three turns before hitting the barrel threads. Thats another reason I turn my front trigger guard screw into a pillared 1/4-28.

went out for a quick shoot this morning I didnt have time to let the porker cool properly as is reflected in shot # 3 so I let it cool and fired # 4. it has yet to earn the name "MR PIG" but i think it will shortly Pig # 1s ugly brother is taking shape, popped it out of the stock this morn

Hey Bill! I noticed an empty pair of crocks in the background of your picture. Recoil can't be that bad can it?

not know about ug but #1 is not bad at all with the axiom stock, it full well reduces recoil, bout like a 20 ga heavy load.
will know about ug this week, I will light er up and see what happens. think i will put a ramrod tube in the hogue. might as well make it really ugly!

Hillbill.........Now that is a nice rifle and a nice FOUR shot group! Don't get me wrong here, I am just thinking out loud as I often do ;D. "I didnt have time to let the porker cool properly as is reflected in shot # 3 so I let it cool and fired # 4" Is it entirely possible that shot #3 was going to go where it did "no matter what?" I have shot umpteen groups where one will go out and following shots will go right in with the main group and every shot, my barrel is conditioned the same way? I'm just saying? .....Aiming, mirage, trigger control of just the fact its still a muzzle loader shooting saboted bullets? There was absolutely nothing wrong with the group? Have you ever not shot a group where the first shot did not print where the second and third one did? In that case, someone might call the first shot a "fouler?" Just keeping it real. NICE gun and NICE group!! Looking forward to seeing some of those five shot 1/2" groups Richard

Might have to get the savage out for that Richard.
for those that shoot in high temps with OR without a cooling device we know how tough it is to shoot those tiny groups. IF mcgowen would have sent my barrel drops like they were suppose to I would be having a die made right now to do away with the plastic this summer. anyone have a mcgowen barrel drop they will part with???
anyway Im just getting started with these barrels but I think they will be on par with the pacnors or close anyway, time will tell. one thing for sure, they will give mr & mrs deer a fit come fall. In the meantime its punching paper, with the plastic bag delivering the goods.....
